Habitats, Appearance, Dangers, & How To Help Avoid

  • The Stripped Bark Scorpion often likes to reside under rocks, wood, decaying organic material, & frequents cracks/crevices. It is also the most commonly found scorpion to make entrance into your home.

  • Commonly seeks shelter in attics & Crawl Spaces.

  • Adults are tan/yellowish in color with two dark lines running down the top of the abdomen, while younger scorpions are darker in color with the same two darker lines.

  • Stings can cause swelling due to venom injected in the localized area. Often times, these stings are medically insignificant, and only need cleaned to avoid infection. However, they can cause allergic reactions.

  • The best way to avoid having Scorpions in your home is to make sure to not have debris close to the dwelling, and close off any entrances. Scorpions can fit anywhere a credit card can fit. So weep holes, windows, doors, attics, and crawl spaces.
